10 Grand Central

New York City, New York

Project Type

Hospitality, Workplace

A workplace hospitality art program inspired by the material language of Grand Central Station — incorporating patina, oxidation, and layered surface treatments through commissioned works informed by chemistry, craft, and historical reference.

STORY

Inspired by Grand Central

Located within an iconic Ely Jacques Kahn building, the artwork program draws from the architectural language and material richness of Grand Central’s Art Deco era. References to Kahn’s layered ornamentation, the repeating geometry of Guastavino tilework, and the aged patina found throughout Grand Central informed the visual direction of the collection.

Commissioned works combine hand-finished copper, oxidation processes, painterly floral studies, and sculptural surface treatments to create a contemporary interpretation of New York craftsmanship. Throughout the project, the artwork balances historical reference with warmth, texture, and workplace hospitality.

PROCESS

Floral studies, patina experimentation, and hand-crafted fabrication processes informed the commissioned works throughout the project.
