Deer Creek

Located in Petaluma, Deer Creek drew inspiration from the region’s role as one of Northern California’s early agricultural and commercial gateways. Goods, materials, and capital moved through Petaluma before continuing south to San Francisco via the Petaluma River, helping establish the city as an important center for trade and regional agriculture.

The artwork program references both the materials and landscapes tied to this history — woven textiles inspired by agricultural craft traditions, hand-drawn studies of the surrounding hills and coastline, and works influenced by the textures and rhythms of Northern California ranch culture.

Alongside these historical references, the collection also reflects the contemporary lifestyle of Petaluma residents today, drawing inspiration from the coastal destinations, open landscapes, and weekend routes that continue to shape life in the region.
